Ulskebjørnen, known as a quite airy hike due to constant wind passing over the mountain ridge is a moderate hike from Jordalen in Eidsvåg, just outside Bergen. Transport with car is recommended as the start is located a considerable distance into the valley, at the base of the mountain.

Parking

Accommodation for parking is quite small, with just enough space for up to 4-5 cars, and is done at left hand side of the road on gravel.Be careful not to park in front of the small rectangular object with a sign that specify not to block.

Any further in is on private road, and therefore not possible.

The Way to the Summit

Ulskebjørnen is a round trip and can either be done with a direct ascent to the summit of Ulskebjørnen first, or last.

I chose the direct ascend.

To get to the summit, keep left, and walk towards the forest. There is a gate there to cross. Once entered, a zig-zag gravel/river road will lead you to a place called “Stallene”, directly translated intoEnglish as “The Stables”. Another gate for entering, and one on the other side for exiting must be closed after you. On the last gate, the path continues sharp right, straight up towards the mountain. The path might be a bit difficult to find, but it is there, and will become more apparent the further upward you come.

The path from here is a constant ascend with no mentionable encounters. Quite shortly, you will get to the summit of Ulskebjørnen, and on the mountain ridge.

The Ridge

Interconnected with city mountains.

Ulskebjørnen is interconnected with the North-Eastern mountains surrounding Bergen, with Rundemannen as the nearest summit. Notable mountains as Fløyen and Ulriken is reachable. Thus, you can hike to Ulskebjørnen from the city centre as well.

The way to the Viking Cabin

At the time of writing, the Viking Cabin is painted red. Just follow the ridge South-East by East and you will get there. A yellow cabin and black one will be encountered on the way. I personally didn’t go there, as the cabin was a substantial distance in on the ridge. Instead, went to the yellow cabin, and from there rounding the trip.

Return

From the yellow cabin, the path will be tangent on the trail from Ulriken to Rundemannen. The path back down from there to start is a bit difficult to find, so just start going off-trail here.

What’s a Rich Text element?

The rich text element allows you to create and format headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, images, and video all in one place instead of having to add and format them individually. Just double-click and easily create content.

Static and dynamic content editing

A rich text element can be used with static or dynamic content. For static content, just drop it into any page and begin editing. For dynamic content, add a rich text field to any collection and then connect a rich text element to that field in the settings panel. Voila!

How to customize formatting for each rich text

Headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, figures, images, and figure captions can all be styled after a class is added to the rich text element using the "When inside of" nested selector system.
